Celebrating Our Bereaved Ones

Read Time:1 Minute, 43 Second

It’s National Wine Day! Let’s take a moment to raise our wine glasses and make a toast by celebrating our bereaved ones.

Why am I celebrating National Wine Day? One, I love wine, and two, I need to start celebrating myself more often than I usually do.

The month of May was a challenging month for me. It was my first Mother’s Day without our Daughter and the one year anniversary of my daughter’s passing. I spent a lot of time being burnt out and angry instead of celebrating myself as a Mother.

Today we let loose. We will celebrate ourselves for how strong we have been. We celebrate our babies that lay their heads in heaven.

Let’s pop open a bottle of wine and try some of the following ideas to celebrate ourselves today!

1. Buy yourself flowers and chocolate.

TREAT YO SELF! I know not everyone is a fan of flowers, but here is where the chocolate comes in. Edible arrangements, Ferrero Rocher. Ugh yum!

2. Take yourself out to dinner and get that dessert you’ve been craving!

3. Take a bubble bath if you need to wine down (pun intended).

Turn on the hot water add some Epson salt and pour yourself a glass of wine.

4. Have a solo dance party!

Bad Bunny came out with a fire album, and I’ve already had multiple solo dance parties! This is one of the best ways to let loose. (I know ya’ll love Bad Bunny).

5. Pamper yourself with a facial and/or massage.

Check out Groupon for some great deals.

6. Get dressed up for yourself.

Nothing says confidence than doing your hair, nails, and make-up. Wear a cute outfit for yourself.

After taking this time to wind down, may I suggest making a list of all the things you’ve accomplished in life, if you’re feeling inspired, you can make a list of goals to continue building your future!

You are strong, you are brave. Thank you for celebrating our bereaved ones with me.

  1. I write to my loved one. When they first died, I wrote daily. As I approach the one year anniversary it has slowed down some. But it helped me.

I loved your self care tips. Don’t think I’ve ever bought myself flowers. Will try this.

    1. That’s amazing to write to your loved one. That is a great way to heal and express yourself. Thank you so much for sharing and if you need any resources with grief please let me know.
